CLADDINGS
We want you to benefit from our long and wide experience supplying external timber claddings to architects' specifications delivered around the UK. Western Red Cedar, Thermowood and Siberian Larch are available and we would be pleased to receive your enquiry for these or other timber under consideration.
This is a broad and developing area covering traditional shiplap and a range of TG&V patterns, but now extending to brise soleil and solar shading fins. We supply all these regularly. Enquiries from architects and specifiers, construction companies and specialist cladding companies are welcome so that we may assist in the best economic use of timber for the application. At the earliest stage, we should be pleased to advise on preferred choice of timber, section, fixings, finishing and, as necessary, on fire treatment.
CF Anderson supports the Timber Trade Federation's Responsible Purchasing Plan initiative, hence our stocks are sourced from well managed forest and we should only offer goods carrying recognised certification.
WESTERN RED CEDAR CSA

Canadian Clear Western Red Cedar excels in this application because of its natural qualities of durability, stability and warmth. Chosen always with beauty in mind, Western Red Cedar is particularly suited to its cladding role having earned itself an A* from BRE's Code For Sustainable Homes. Without the need of treatment, a design service life of 60 years is possible. And with effective finishing and maintenance, this could be extended further.
With over 40 years of experience in delivering Western Red Cedar, we keep only certified dry cedar in top grade No2 Clears to meet this requirement in 25 x 150mm nominal. A range of Shiplap and TG&V patterns is held in stock and we should be pleased to discuss your requirement produced to your specification.
SCANDINAVIAN THERMOWOOD PEFC
The rich, golden colour of Thermowood cladding is similar to Western Red Cedar again, with considerable savings in cost. Available in standard sections of shiplap, PMV (or TG&V), Channel Groove and Featheredge, it is produced only from environmentally-sound Scandinavian softwood from sustainable forests. Thermowood is specifically intended for exterior cladding, as well as other similar uses, i.e. interior cladding, floors and indoor ceilings, facades, garden furniture, playground equipment, noise screening, sauna panelling, fences and terraces.

The process that converts premium Scandinavian softwood to Thermowood is the result of cooperation between a number of producers in Finland. It is steam heated in a kiln. The heat goes to the core of the wood, driving out moisture and resin. The result is a timber with a reduced moisture content and enhanced physical properties. It is 50% more stable than untreated softwood and suffers less shrinkage, swelling, and distortion in response to atmospheric changes. It is easy to work with and lightweight. The improved stability of Thermowood reduces the potential for shrinkage, warp or twist ensuring your deck or cladding looks great for years to come.
Thermowood needs no preservatives for these applications. Its superior resistance to water and to attack from fungi means that it will last as long – if not longer – than chemically-treated softwood. For best performance, Thermowood should be installed in above ground conditions. This means that is an ideal material for external claddings. It looks good all year round and it goes on looking good year after year. Just finish with natural pigmented wood oils or other preferred finish.
SIBERIAN LARCH FSC.jpg)
This is a popular option for external use as cladding and with the characteristic fine texture of slow grown timber, with significant savings over Western Red Cedar. It is usually supplied without the need of preservative treatment and achieves Grade 2, as BS 1186 Pt 3 section 4. In addition to our standard shiplap pattern, we hold sawn stock to produce to individual specification.
